The criticism began on Sunday, February 14. Vice President Joseph Biden and former Vice President Dick Cheney presented differing opinions regarding who they believe is responsible for this so-called “progress” of the war in Iraq.
According to the Associated Press, Cheney believes that the credit should go to the Bush administration instead of Obama receiving accolades for his “greatest achievement” during his short tenure as President.
“We had to take responsibility. We took responsibility for the mess that we were handed at the end of last year,” Biden said.
To fight for tthe reputation of the Bush Administration, Cheney retaliated with a counter argument.
“If they’re going to take credit for it, fair enough. . . but it ought to go with a healthy dose of ‘thank you, George Bush,’” said Cheney on Sunday.
In a way, Cheney is right. The Obama Administration should not take complete credit for what is happening with the war. But what exactly is happening?
We do not know exactly what type of progress these politicians speak of, considering a politician has to produce a vague perception of a situation when discussing it with the public.
If the war does not turn out as planned, the finger will then point in the opposite direction. Dick Cheney will blame the Obama Administration and Joe Biden will blame the Bush Administration. It is all a part of politics.
The fight will never end over the “progress” of the war.
